POS Integration

Music that reads the room

Tunio sees how busy you are through your POS and adjusts the music itself: more energy at peak, softer in the quiet hours.

Under the hood

How it works for you

The register reports a sale

The moment a check is closed, your register sends a signal. We keep only its time and location: amounts are not even parsed out of the incoming message.

We measure how busy it is

Receipts over the last 15 minutes are compared with the usual level for this weekday and hour across 8 weeks. “Busy” is one and a half times the usual, “quiet” is less than half.

Tempo and volume change

Within your own schedule the music gets faster and a touch louder at peak, slower and softer when quiet: 20% on tempo, 8% on volume. At peak the pool narrows to the danceable part of your genres — that is what moves the room.

Flow is normal — the music follows the venue schedule.

    Why it works

    Not magic — field research

The effect of background music on guest behavior has been measured for decades in real restaurants, bars and stores — from Milliman's classic experiments to modern studies.

    Tempo drives the flow

Field experiments show: slow music keeps guests at the table and on the sales floor, fast music speeds up the flow. Both are useful — at the right moment.

    Volume changes behavior

Sound level affects how fast people consume and even what they choose. That's why Tunio shifts volume gently, within ±8% — never in jumps.

    Faster ≠ more profitable

Bar and retail studies agree: fast tempo outside peak hours hurts revenue. That's why the turnover mode only kicks in during a real rush.

    Data & privacy

We see the rhythm, not the money

The integration is designed so that your business's sensitive data simply never reaches Tunio.

    No amounts, no revenue

Tunio doesn't request or store receipt amounts — not per receipt, not in totals. Only the fact and time of a sale.

    No customer data

No names, phone numbers or cards. Your guests' personal data never leaves the POS.

    Outages are a non-issue

If the internet drops or the POS goes offline, the sound doesn't stop: music falls back to your base schedule.

    Minimal storage

Raw receipt data lives for just a few days and turns into anonymized traffic statistics in 15-minute buckets.

    Questions & answers

    POS integration — common questions

    Which POS systems are supported?

Currently Square and MoySklad: Square connects in a couple of clicks via OAuth, MoySklad — with a token from your account. The list keeps growing — tell us which POS you use.

    Will Tunio see our revenue?

No. The system doesn't request or store amounts anywhere — only the fact and time of each receipt, which is enough to compute venue traffic.

Will the music switch abruptly during a rush?

No. The current track is never cut off — what changes is the selection of the next ones: a bit faster and louder at peak, softer in a lull. To your guests it sounds natural, like a live DJ at work.

Will you replace our playlists with yours?

No. The integration works on top of your schedule: it temporarily shifts tempo and volume within the genres you chose. What plays in your venue is still up to you.

What happens if the POS or the internet goes down?

Nothing bad. All adjustments are temporary and expire automatically — the sound keeps playing on your base weekly schedule.

How much data does it need to start working?

Open/closed modes work from day one. To tell “busy” from “quiet” the system needs sales history — it's pulled automatically on connection (up to a year), so calibration is usually ready right away.

We have several locations — how does that work?

Each location is linked to its own station and adapts to its own floor. Everything is managed from a single dashboard.

We don't have a music schedule yet — where do we start?

With the POS. On connection, Tunio detects your business type and suggests a ready-made weekly schedule fitted to your business hours. You can fine-tune it however you like afterwards.
